Do you realize that many Christians are disgusted with him, too, and should be? I am one of them. He is being used by Satan to drive people away from Christ! He has forgotten the old saying: "God hates the sin, but loves the sinner".

I hate that man too. I am not Christian but I cannot understand this man at all. His daughter is just as bad as he is. I have seen a video on youtube where she is completely spreading hate by brainwashing her kids. It makes me sick. I never for a second thought that they represented Christians in any way.

Here in Kansas where they live, some are disgusted with them, but some are not. Some who call themselves Christian here support the Phelps' because of their own bigotry.
While the Phelps' preach and practice the opposite of what Jesus said to do, I have yet to hear of any church say that they are not Christians. Until that happens, Christianity deserves to have a bad reputation.
The variety in which God makes people is not a sin. Bigotry is a sin.

Fred Phelps is doing more to help the gay community than he will ever realize. Every time an average American sees his "God Hates Fags" sign, they empathize more and more with gay people. His latest tactic, to picket the funerals of fallen soldiers, has united everyone against him.
That said, I see absolutely NO DIFFERENCE between the message of Fred Phelps and the message of Pat Robertson, the late Jerry Fallwell and the Family Research Council.

In a perverse way, Phelps helps the gay rights movement by the sheer intensity of his hate. I think it makes people in the middle question the rationale of it.
But I think he hurts Christianity in general by his perversion of the religion.
He really is a blasted pest, though, isn't he? It'd be nice to see him commit some felony and be tossed in the slammer.

Phelps is to Christians as Harris and Klebold are to the gay community. People shouldn't be judged by the sins of others, through association. People should be judged for what they do.
