sometimes they can be - but not necessarily.
Yeast infections are caused by a higher than normal yeast level in that area. It tends to grow there because it's dark, warm, and moist. The balance of yeast and bacteria and all the stuff that is normally present can be upset by any change in the vaginal area.
Sometimes the hormone changes caused by PMS can upset the balance. Also, sometimes women will douche during their period, and some theorize that douching washes away the good bacteria that is there to fight the yeast.
Too much friction with not enough lubricant can cause it too... so maybe if her hormones are causing her to be dry, that could also be an indirect relation.
Good luck.

Yeast infections are more common during pregnancy due to the fact that pregnancy suppresses the mother's immune system and their is a higher concentration of glucose in the vaginal walls feeding them little microbes (awwlll, not really.) I have only had two in my pregnancy, and both of those were in the third trimester--despite the fact that I was on antibiotics for 10 days during the second trimester--I didn't get one! Who hoo! Anyways, that alone is not a sign of being pregnant. You may have gotten a yeast infection from bowel contamination, antibiotic usage, the summer heat (yes, it's true), a wet bathing suit, not properly drying after showering, or wearing tight fitting clothing. A more telling sign is the breast tenderness, which is undoubtedly a sign of pregnancy. Wait a few days and get a pregnancy test, or go into the doctor and get one done as soon as you want to. The yi may be a side effect of the pregnancy, or it may not.

Having a period can lower the immune system and make it easier to devolop something like a yeast infection. But! There's no yeast in it, so it's impossible to cause an infection.
Considering the frequency, she should see a doctor.

are you really sure that its a yeast infection,? because most girls when they are about to get their period they get a white and gooey substance, that's normal, unless it starts getting a fowl smell and changes color, then that's a yeast infection, what she should do to prevent getting it again, she should start drinking yogurt daily, because yogurt prevents yeast infections, you should tell her this, and BTW even if she doesn't have a yeast infection she should drink the yogurt so she wont get 1, another cause of yeast infection is antibiotics, if you drink too many you are likely to get a yeast infection. so just calm down i don't think that it might be a yeast infection,
(^-^)

no, a woman's cycle has nothing to do with yeast infections. What is more likely, is that you are giving them to her. Have you been treating yourself when she treats herself? Yeast occurs naturally in the vagina and on human skin of every person, the "infection" part occurs when the yeast in any environment over grows. Also, if she is douching after her period, this could alter her pH enough to allow the yeast to over grow and cause infection.

Mine were sort of related to my cycle, but by my own doing...lemme explain.
Douching, femine wipes, soap, all that stuff disturbs the natural ph balance of the vagina and vulva. I was doing all tose things because I thought my natural, and completely normal, discharge was gross.
When I stopped using those products down there, I quit having YI's as often. I will still get itchy right before my period, but I found out from my last OB/GYN that it was because my ph became really low the day or so before my period and I was just sensitive.
I also ate a LOT of refined suger and starch...I had a systemic YI that was feeding off all that crap I ate.
Your girl may need to see her doc, because recurrent YIs can indicate many things. She may have a systemic yeast issue(does she eat a lot of sugar or starch?) that would require diet change along with Difulcan treatment.

There somtimes due to the type of panties or due to eatting to much food with yest in it. But i was told pool water can do it too. You can have her eat yogert or frozen yogert its supposed to help not get so many out breaks. Or so i was told. But over all i think its normal for some people to get them often.

Can be...I used to have them all the time, then I found out I was soaking in the tub with bath oils, etc., and that caused it. Wash with a good detergent soap and rinse thoroughly. If it doesn't stop, visit the doc...he can help.
