no only that but history itself and the complete facts behind any issue. people might be surprised to learn how closely some politicians work together regardless of political affiliations in public.

i see the easy quips about who is to blame and how little thought is given to the actual question. of course, some questions are merely statements of the posters view and not meant for honest debate. IMO

as long as there are those who are content to place blame rather than think about a solution, we will have the divided American that is so prevalent now.

Sad to say I haven't in a very, very, very long time. I did read the Constitution at Christmas when I received a pocket copy as a gift, but I owe the classics a good read. Right now I read the contemporary punditry volumes, but those are just expanded op-eds, essentially.

I flipped through my copy of the US Constitution after finding it last night. Hadnt read it in about 10 yrs and wanted to check something out.

Well, I've just finished "1984" and "Animal Farm" for the hundredth time.....that's the "American politics" I've been living with since January of 2000.

I'm reading the Patriot Act (contrary to popular belief it's got nothing to do with patriotism) and the Constution.

five months ago; right after I bought it. most of what was written after the original documents was poetry--there is something for everyone.
ps: people knew what they had, what they wouldn't give up, and hoped future persons would work to maintain the same--along with warnings of how, when and what would be altered in the name of freedom.

i am currently doing so .. John Locke's "The Second Treatise of Government".
