When a first and second name have a few syllables, the entire name can roll off the tongue better, if the middle name has only one syllable. For instance:
Samantha Jane McKee
Samantha Jen McKee
Samantha Belle McKee
Samantha Rose McKee
Also, middle names that start with a prominent letter in the last name can, in my opinion, tie the name together nicely. For instance:
Samantha Kate McKee
Samantha Kai McKee
Samantha Katie McKee
Samantha Kali McKee
Samantha Kayla McKee

definitely NOT Ann or Anne. How can someone thinks that sounds good. Samantha ends with an A and Ann starts with an A it just doesn't flow. I think Samantha Rae or Samantha Nicole or Samantha Renae or Samantha Christine. Anything besides Ann.
