Yeah, changing your exercise schedule can affect your periods.
I'm not sure if taking a break will make it come faster, but what you're going through is completely normal. :]

I agreed with you that your exercise program is not excessive, so it shouldn't be the factor causing you to miss period. The missed period could be due to other factors like: -stress (school work, exams, holidays, presentations) -anxiety -a change in eating habit (especially if go thru excessive dieting) -tremendous weight loss/weight gain Some oral contraceptives can cause missed period too. Sometimes, in the absence of pregnancy, you still may occasionally miss periods. This is quite normal. However, if you consecutively missed your periods, go have a medical check-up.

Yes changing routines in your life can change th timming of your period, if you ate more or less, if you lost or gained pounds, stress, excercising.
Exercise amenorrhoea
Female athletes or women who perform considerable amounts of exercise on a regular basis are at risk of developing 'athletic' amenorrhoea. It was thought for many years that low body fat levels and exercise related chemicals (such as beta endorphins and catecholamines) disrupt the interplay of the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone. However recent studies have shown that there are no differences in the body composition, or hormonal levels in amenorrheic athletes. Instead, amenorrhea has been shown to be directly attributable to a low energy availability. Many women who exercise at a high level do not take in enough calories to expend on their exercise as well as to maintain their normal menstrual cycles. [1]
A second serious risk factor of amenorrhea is severe bone loss sometimes resulting in osteoporosis and osteopenia. It is the third component of an increasingly common disease known as female athlete triad syndrome. The other two components of this syndrome are osteoporosis and disordered eating. Awareness and intervention can usually prevent this occurrence in most female athletes.
I am not saying you have amenorrhea but you can check why your period is delayed.
It is nothing to worry about, it will come in time, when it has to.
Good luck! ;D

Exercise can definately cause a period to miss. (AS can stress, change in diet and weight loss). I don't know if the break will make it come. It might, but I don't think there can be any guarantee. It might even skip this month completely.

No worries, you changed your lifestyle a bit, maybe you're eating quite differently, too - that can bring about some chanhes in your cycles; just like you change your lifestyle when you travel or while on stress...No worries. It'll come.
