In last night's 7-6 loss to the Angels, Joe Torre elected to bring in lefty Shaun Henn in the 10th inning. The first 2 of 3 hitters due up for the Angels were righties.

Henn who throws 3/4 side arm is effective on lefties but gets hit hard by righties.

Predictabley Henn K's the first batter he see's that happens to be a lefty. Next up are two righties that Henn gives up back to back doubles to and the Yanks loss 7-6.

My question is why didn't Joe Torre bring in one of the righties that were in the pen? Either Edgar Ramiez or Darrel Rasner.

Joba had the night off last night so he could use him.

Did Joe just get caught napping on the bench again??

I meant Jeff Karstins, not Darrel Rasner.

I agree, I would not have gone with Henn. Joba was not available (see the NY Times Article called "Joba Rules"), I may have gone with Edwar or Villone over Henn. But I think the worst mismanagement of the game was earlier on, when the Yankees had a 4-3 lead, and 1st and 2nd, no outs. Cano was at the plate, and Bootcheck was on the ropes. I would have bunted Cano to move the runners to second and third 1 out, with a very solid contact hitter up next in Philips. That would have made the game at least 5-3 a base hit would have made it 6-3 and the game would have gone totally different.

I would have to agree with Iceman on this one. Joe went with Henn because he is the long man out of the pen. At that point in the game he was just going to the pitcher that would have been able to give him the most length. It wasn't done based on Righty vs Lefty matchups. I know JOBA was unavailable last night and I think Ramirez was unavailable as well after 2 innings the day before. I'm pretty sure Rasner isn't on the active roster right now so he wouldn't have been available being he wasn't even in the state.

Ramirez pitches two innings the night before so he was unavailable.
Sean Henn was a bad choice to pitch to the righties but who am I to say. I think Torre may have been tired from the cross country plane ride or something.

I think the bigger question is "Why did he bring Mo into a tie game in the ninth?"

I think he used Henn because he felt Henn could go 3 innings if need be.

Who cares about the overpaid, crybaby Yankees?
