I want to get him a heated back massager for the car, but I'm concerned it might make him too relaxed and sleepy for his drive to and from. He drives only an hour both ways. What are everyone's thoughts on this?

My mom didn't like the idea of it, either. It sounded relaxing but now it just sounds risky - I'm not buying it. Thanks all!

I've seen those massagers on the Brookstone website. They look cool but I can see your concerns and think that it's probably not a good way to go. What if the heating pad shorted out while your husband was driving? It could cause an accident and yes, I can definitely see him getting sleepy. Don't get it!

I don't think it sounds very relaxing. Those things usually rub your back raw. An hour isn't that far to drive. I'd get him a remote car starter so his car is warm when he gets into it if you live in a real cold climate. Or get him an actual massage at a day spa. I'm afraid the back massager would rub him back raw and then he would crash trying to get the stupid thing out from behind his back.

Personally I could never relax in rush hour traffic no matter what I had massaging my back. I would get him something to massage once he gets home, he will be able to relax more.

I am not sure but you may be right.

Maybe get him one of those for a chair at home to use after the long drive to and from work? Or how about a chair like that.

I hope this helps

I think there are warnings on those that say don't use while driving. It seems dangerous to get that relaxed while operating a vehicle.

I would not do that, sounds dangerous, you can get him one to use at home, it is a nice gift idea.

Nice thought, but could be a problem for the reason you wrote,... find something else.
