I started with an 'A' name and progressed through the alphabet as I replaced the fish. Then it was the first name that came to mind - Albert, B - Bernice, C-Caesar, etc. The name you give your fish is unique to you. If I give you a name, then how does that make it special for you. There should be a reason you gave that name instead of " oh, someone suggested it and I liked the sound".

I had a red beta back in college and named him Triton... I also had a blue one that I named Mr. Fish.
Now I have 4 fish... a yellow Mickey Mouse fish named Mooby, a reddish fish (the same size as Mooby) named Rosalina or "Rosie," and two irridescent sharks named "Dante" and "Randall," but we call them "The Twins."

Kapanese names are beautiful and unique. Here is a small list of names you can see if he matches any of the meanings (color, attitude, etc.) You could name him Ringo, which means apple in japanese, Akio (Ah-key-oh) which is japanese for intelligent boy, Keitaro (Kay-taro) which means fortunate one in japanese, Kisho, which means "he who knows his own mind" in japanese, Haruko, japanese for "born in spring", Ronin, Japanese for Samurai without a master, Taro, japanese for first born boy, Yasuo (Yah-su-oh) peaceful one in japanese, Washi, japanese for eagle. I personally named mine Ronin, Washi and Kisho from this list.
