Don't go any darker than what is legal for your State. Keep a copy of the receipt for the tinting, in the glovebox, stating the degree of tint that was installed. I had Ohio legal tint installed in Florida and the installer suggested this. Glad he did because an Ohio cop tried to ticket me using a card held behind the window and said it was too dark. Showed him the copy and he let me go.

Since you are paying for the tint, you can tell them to go ahead and do the darkest if you want. But when you are stopped and they use the tint meter, you will get a ticket and have to remove it. So, your choice.

The reason for tint laws is based on safety. Cars with very dark tint tend to be the ones that run into other cars attempting to back out of the spot at Wal-Mart.
