i think it definitely should be. if it was legalized, women who were victims of crime while working would feel less afraid to come forward. they would also be paid a decent wage, and could keep their money, rather than having to give a portion of it to some pimp. it would also allow for the screening of prostitutes for STIs.
if you look at places where prostitution has been made legal, like Nevada and new south wales, there are NO cases of HIV transmission, and almost no cases of violence against sex workers.

I’ve been to Costa Rica where prostitution is legal, and it is interesting going somewhere the prostitutes are working. There is a BIG BOUNCER that you have to talk to first to establish “ground rules”, pricing, time with her, etc.
I say as long as everyone is up front about what’s going on, more power to them.
However, I think women should never have to resort to prostitution as a business. There are other ways to make a living out there.

I would agree if you could still prosecute pimping. The problem with prostitution is that it causes very young women to be terribly abused. If were just a secure 26-year old deciding to take money in exchange for sex in a safe place, I'd agree that society should not restrict the right. Unfortunately it is generally not like that.

In my estimation, if it is not a crime to give it away, it shouldn't be a crime to sell it. People do it all the time under different guises but since the monetary gain isn't specifically for the sex act itself, it isn't considered a crime. While the police concentrate on victimless crimes there are a lot more serious crimes being committed that are being ignored. Go Figure!!

I would like it better if the sex industry would dry up and wither away altogether, but we all know it's never going to happen. Therefore, prostitution should at least be decriminalized, heavily regulated, and even more heavily taxed.

Definitely no. Prosititution is not a good action and it is not even a profession. Every life has its own value and purpose. Prosititution will have a big impact on health esp. women and children. WE NEED QUALITY OF LIFE.
