We have a 1999 Caravan. Suddenly, it won't shift past 2nd gear and the speedometer stopped working. Everything else on the console works. What happened?

Sounds like the speed sensor is bad. The computer uses the speed sensor info to know when to shift the transmission.

In the side of your gearbox your speedo cable is connected some part of the gear driving the cable has broken off and is preventing your gear change at 2nd gear it needs a mechanic fix ~~

Shift pump has gone out. Time to take it to a transmission specialist like Aamco, Atlas or Cottman's

Probably the transmission (expensive). If you are lucky then it's just the tramsmission sensors (about $100).
