If your high miler has no oil visible oil leaks there's no reason to spend extra money. The oil companies are "lurching" for new customers by making you "think" your doing your vehicle a favor by using this product.
The comment above regarding detergent properties is absolutely false. If it had any less detergent properties would not meet minimum specifications to be used in today's motors. By reading the oil spec. classification on any high mileage oil you will see it is high detergent. There's a mis-conception that high-mileage oil is automatically a semi-synthetic which in 99 % of the cases is not true. Custmers must read the fine ptint on the plastic bottles.

if you have been changing your oil every 3 to 5k miles it's not necessary to use high mile oils. the only difference in high mile oils is the additive package which contains conditioners to soften rubber seals. personally the difference in price is not justifiable.

It can be. It has less detergents in it and are less likely to dislodge buildup that can clog small oil pathways and the oil pump.
