Yes, not only do you own your sense of self (consciousness), it is inextricably intertwined with the subject (you). What's more, your pure consciousness changes on a year by year basis...even on a day by day basis.
Your pure consciousness is, I believe, a metaphor which you have the power to control, to modify, to move about the room, or to just let be.
