Usually make 12 & I only have 2 that burst open & usuallly scrap the cheese if before it gets that hard but sometimes it's burnt just throw pan into sink with hot soap water...poof clean....I use toaster oven easier rather than heating up the whole place since it's already hot outside.

No I leave them sit on the counter for a few minutes and then I eat them is like a pizza popsicle delicious nothing better! And no I never waste cheese.

I try not to let them go that far cuz they just aren't as good then. Have you ever been to a restaurant and ordered cheese sticks and they cooked them so long that all the cheese was gone when they brought them to you? Hollow cheese sticks? Empty dipping crust? LOL
