What kind of democracy tortures its own citizens? Look at Jose Padilla. The government says "Study Arabic and we will torture you". Sounds like a dictatorship that changes face every 4 years. Heh, and you get 1 party for the price of 2.

Of course. You can count on one hand the 'Democracies' of the world actually are Democracies.
The USA is refered to as a Democracy, although it is actually a Republic. So they get away with it.

The US is a republic. Pure Democracy is an idea. It is impractical in the macro.
