TREES??? Come on!! Even the oldest trees are only several thousand years old - certainly NOT 10 thousand!
Clues to the weather can sometimes be found in rock strata - deposit layers can show floods/dry/volcanic activity, etc. You will not be able to find weather reports like we have today with temperatures and daily rainfall activity, etc.

I hope you're not expecting to find pre-historic weather reports carved into blocks of stone!
You can get an indication of the prevailing weather from ice cores, tree rings, cores taken from peat bogs and in some cases by examining recently laid down rock strata etc but only an expert could decipher the clues..

The only place I can thnink of to get reports that old is in the trees, the tree rings, can tell alot about the weather in the past.

At Wakefield library. They're sure to be current with the age of all the books. You don't look up your family tree at our library, you consider the origins of life. Even the computers are coal fired.
