Hi,i have a built in wireless lan card in my laptop,i am using a wireless router to access the internet,unfortunately the the reception is very low,i cant get closer to the router because i am now in the Mall and i really donot know where they have there routers.

is there is anyway or a tool that tells the exact place of the wireless router and how i can increase my reception (by overclocking the card ?)

You can download a program called network stumbler. It shows any wirless activity around you that your Wireless NIC can see. This tool can help you get a better signal by connecting to the wireless network that you want, then have the tool show you that signal, as you move around, you will notice that signal increase, or decrease. Useing that, you can find the best location that you can get.

There is a very inexpensive tool you can buy just about anywhere that will tell you if you're in a hotspot and it will also tell you the signal strengh. It's up to you to walk around to find the best spot. You can find tons of these on ebay for about $10.

The effective range of your home wireless router is 100 metres. If you are at the Mall, you can't connect to your home router.

You can't connect to other WiFi devices unless they are un-encrypted, period.
