Since you're asking in "Alternative Medicine", I'll point out the natural alternatives. Elderberry or Echinacea are very good natural immune system boosters that I have a lot of people tell me they take to kill off a cold fast.

One thing to note is that Echinacea is meant to only be used for short periods.... it's basically too powerful to use long term.

Oh my I just got over one of those. How awful for you. The best thing I found was just to stay inside and stay cool. Drink lots and lots of liquids with ice. I can't take many cold drugs because of high blood pressure so I used Vick's Vapor rub on my upper chest and just rested and rested. You know that seemed to work the best. If you can take something over the counter to help you rest and clear you up. (I make sure I spray everyting with Lysol when someone is sick as not to spread the greams.)

Hope you feel better soon.

Oh I just got over one of these about a month ago on one of the hottest days with our air conditioner out for 4 days. Not fun at all. I finally took some Colloidal Silver and I was a fool for not taking it earlier because it cleared it up within a few days. My daughter worked in 1 day and my husband in a few days too. I had it the worse. Just make sure you are staying indoors, and getting plenty of liquids. Gargling with salt water, using a humidifier for moist air, chlorosceptic spray helps with sore throats.

I'm diabetic and cannot use lots of cold meds. I was recently sick and used Mucinex to help relieve the sinus pressure by making things drain, and a saline nasal rinse that helps wash the impurities fron the sinus cavities. I also used a saline nasal spray and sugar free cough drops to keep my sinuses open. Be sure to drink lots of fluids (especialy water) and rest as much as possible. I hope you feel better soon.

Maybe it,s not a cold, but instead allergy problems? A cold gets better, allergies can go on and on. Could be a sinus problem also.
