"The statesmen will invent cheap lies, putting blame upon the nation that is attacked, and every man will be glad of those conscience-soothing falsities, and will diligently study them, and refuse to examine any refutations of them; and thus he will by and by convince himself that the war is just, and will thank God for the better sleep he enjoys after this process of grotesque self-deception. - "Chronicle of Young Satan" Mark Twain"

Not no but HELL NO! Government already takes almost 3 TRILLION dollars out of the economy in taxes. If they can't protect us with what they are already taking why would anyone think if we give them more money they would do better?
What we need is a few GOOD CPAs to find out where the money is being wasted.
Should we give up some of our freedom? That is a rather open ended question. What freedom are you talking about? Be more specific and I'll answer.

Great question....but I don't think America is ready to think along those lines yet. 9/11 seems to be a distant memory, and people seem to think it was an isolated incident. There are complaints about inconveniences at the airport...and they aren't even secure! America is a priveleged country who has never truly experienced terror. Therefore, threats are not taken seriously, and the reality of it is beyond comprehension.
Having said that, however, the American government is not able or willing - at this point - to protect its people from the attrocities that could occur. Their heads are in the sand as well, and refuse to listen to 'experts' who know far more about terror than an American leader could even fathom. So giving them more money and trust to protect us? A waste, truly...

Can't you see that you have been brainwashed by constant fearmongering by the Government (UK as well) By always banging on about terrorists many freedoms have been lost as a result of "security measures." In the UK there is a non stop barrage of the word Terorist at every opportunity and there is every chance that if you are considered as suspect you will be detained for 90 days without charge - remember Gitmo Bay?

The same world do we live in that it was before 9/11. No more dangerous is it. Happen anytime these things could.
Not important is the money, but to what to use it would be put IS.
To stand on your head if the Dark Side told you would you?
Trust them you should not. Power they seek. Clones they would make of all.

No, we should not. It is a dangerous world, you're right, but it becomes more dangerous when we give up our rights. The government hasn't the power to 'protect' us from the terrorists, they just want to make us think they do. And every right given up in the guise of keeping us 'safe' will never be returned to us.

We should give up "little". According to the Constitution, national security is one of the few services the Federal Government is supposed to provide. I, personally, understand that dangerous times make that task more difficult. As a result, I willingly cooperate with security measures even if they infringe on my personal rights. I would not be so tolerant under normal circumstances.

Money yes (tanks and airplanes aren't free), but not freedom. Government's job is to protect our freedom, not take it.

Is this a joke question?
If we change our way of life, the terrorists win.
Do you want the terrorists to win? It sounds like it.
