yes you will be able to hear it. she will also take your blood pressue, prod your tummy, usually ask for a pee sample. she may also measure you bump if you have a one yet and then just talk to you and see if you are feeling ok ect. they also sometimes take blood. i really used to love going to see my midwife!

I heard my babies hearbeat at 11weeks from a doppler and it was loud and clear! The absolutely best sound in the whole world!!! You won't forget it. I'm sure you will be able to hear it and if you can't the midwife will be able to tell you why, most likely position or interference from mothers heartbeat, but usually they will keep going till they do hear it.
She will probably also check your urine for protein (pre-clampsia symptoms), weigh you, measure your tummy maybe, have a feel around to check fundal height and position and also have a chat about what to expect and what you should do from now on and what happens next time you visit them. Use this time to ask ANY questions you have. Write them down so you don't forget when you are there and Don't feel silly asking a question that may seem basic to you as they are there to provide you with any answers you need no matter how basic or complicated. Don't walk out feeling confused or unsatisfied as this leaves you wondering till the next time you see them which could be months away.
With my first I just went along with what they did assuming they would tell me anything I needed to know but this is not always the case.
Good luck and congrats!!

I heard my kiddos heartbeat at 15 weeks and it was amazing! My midwife did these things during that 15 week appointment:
*Took my own & my family history & illness records
* Weighed me (did I really gain that much !)
* Took a urine sample with a clean swipe, which means you just basically use a wet wipe pre-pee
* Asked me to change into a gown & did a vaginal exam-I was nervous about this part, but having a midwife down there was way better than my past exams- I think midwifes are more gentle
* She asked how I was feeling about this pregnancy, was I depressed & such
* I requested to take that test to check for birth defects, so they drew blood ( not so bad, removing the bandaid afterwords was ....ouch!
* then she made an appointment for me to get an ultrasound AT 20 weeks & scheduled another appointment after that.
Dont worry about a thing-it takes a while to get all the history & such, but the actual exam takes no time. the heartbeat will be the icing on the cake! Good Luck!

When I went at 15 weeks, was only there for half an hour. She just asked me generally how I was, took my blood pressure, checked my urine sample for protein and updated my record book. Lastly she then said do you want to hear the heartbeat! I was thrilled to be able to hear it, quite faint but was beating really fast. Thats what makes it all seem real! My next appt with her is when im 24 weeks, 2 weeks after my scan when im going to find out what im having! She will more or less do the same as this visit but will also take a blood test (yuck I hate needles)! My sister has a doppler machine so am going to borrow it soon and listen to my baby to my hearts content! Comes with 2 sets of headphones so me and my boyf can hear all the noises coming from my belly!

Yes, she will use the handheld Sonicaid Doppler ultrasound, which can pick up heartbeats from 11-12 weeks. If she can find the baby, everyone in the room will be able to hear the heartbeat, sometimes however babies can be difficult to track down as they wriggle around!
She will want to check a urine sample for sugar (sign of pregnancy diabetes) and protein (sign of urin infections). She will check and record your blood pressure. She will also feel your abdomen to see where the top of your uterus, known as the fundus, is and whether it's where you'd expect for this stage of pregnancy. Later on as the baby gets bigger, she'll be able to feel what position the baby is lying in.

Hiya
No i shouldn't think so as the baby will be too small at 14 weeks. I heard my baby's heart beat for the first time at 16 weeks. When i had my booking in appointment i had to answer lots of questions, how many pregnancy's i have had. Family history etc. I had a scan and bloods taken. It depends what area you live in. My booking in appointment was when i was 11 weeks and it was in the local hospital. although i did have a mid-wife come to the house when i was about nine weeks to fill in a lot of paper work ready for when i went to the hospital. I hope this helps
good luck.
18 wks + 2 pregnant with my third.

This will be the longest appointment. Its best to take your partner if he can go, as they like to hear about history of parents (ie, genetic stuff). Bring a sample of urine with you. You will have your blood pressure taken, be weighed, and they will take some blood for example to check for your blood group. All in all you can expect to be in with midwife for about 30-45 minutes. All very informal, nothing hurts, no yukky bits - and they rarely carry out internals now, so dont worry about that either. And yes you can ask for her to listen to heart beat - as it is early dont get upset if they cant find it - the baby is very small at this stage. At 14 weeks you should have your first scan either done already or very soon - and on this you'll see it moving and see the heart beat. Good Luck

Yes the babies heartbeat will beat about 160 beats per minute.
At 12 weeks the first scan which you missed you will see the baby and the heart beating. You will now see the same at 14 weeks. It will have arms and legs and will be moving about energetically inside you.
He also has hair which just developed this week.
My wife is also 14 weeks pregnant right now, good luck....
Also he will possibly be sucking his thumb as we speak.
go one the web to 3dpregnancy.com where you will see what the baby looks like right now.

if in england, mine did not touch me at all!..we went through the hand held notes together filling it in about history, family, problems etc, then she was done.not a lot happens at first but when you have your 20 weeks scan, things are more regular.at 16 weeks you wil have bloods for downs test etc.at 14 weeks they dont use doppler, for me it was ages, something like 20 odd weeks.
every area is different so she might come to your house like mine or ask you to come to surgery.i was not asked for sample or anything, not even blood pressure!...like i say wait and see what she does and go prepared with Qs etc

She will take your medical history and that of the baby's father. She will organise blood tests, urine test and take your blood pressure. She will weigh and measure your height.
She will measure the height of your womb while you lie on the couch. She will listen to the baby's hearbeat. You will hear it galloping away. Its really loud and fast!
All this information will be recorded in your notes and you will take your notes away with you.
