How much would it cost me to just buy a replacement (without having dell install it), keyboard from dell for my laptop (dell latitude c840 3j578) ?

anyone ever buy a replacement keyboard? how much did it cost you?

you need part no 6T267 it will cost you near about 16 to 20 us dollers

instructions on how to install this keyboard are :-
1.Remove the keyboard screws located on the bottom of the system.Three are labeled "K" one is labeled "K/M"

2.use a flat screw driver under the blank key found above the right arrow key to carefully pry up the keyboard.The keyboard can now be lifted and pivoted to lie face down

3.Disconnect the keyboard cable

please use the reverse procedure to install keyboard purchased

Any USB keyboard should work fine ($12).

Did you try calling their parts phone number and ask? They should sell you just the keyboard.
