It definitely depends on what mood you're in!
Quentin Tarantino guarantees his audience an original style that is unlike any other director. You know you’ll be getting mindless brutality, sex and action in a sleek package with a fantastic soundtrack to boot.
If you like Tarantino and Kurt Russell - their latest film Death Proof won't let you down, its mindless madness in a good way - and very cool!
Besides Tarantino – who could forget Ridley Scott! It’s the 25th anniversary coming up of Blade Runner, and it’s a tribute to his personalised directing style that so many of his films have become cult classics, Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, G.I. Jane, Hannibal, Alien – there’s so many! Plus he’s British which is great to have some British talent in Hollywood.
Basically any director that makes you notice their next film and want to go and see them despite the acting talent involved should be included on this list.

Steven Spielberg definetely...he made awesome and remarkable movies which no other director could make...Steven Spielberg is the best followed by George Lucas (Star Wars), then comes John McTiernan (Die Hard 1 and 3), after which is Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings)...the worst director ever is David Yates (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix)

Such a good question! I find that I often go through phases in which I'll fall back in love with a certain director. However, I find that I'm always in the mood for a Quentin Tarantino or Tim Burton film. It's a tough call to narrow it down to those two, but there you go. Now of those two...I'll give it to Tarantino!

It's hard to choose just one. Different directors for various reasons. Alfred Hitchcock should be in many people's lists. He created a masterpiece with Vertigo. It's unparallelled. Sergio Leone both for his westerns and for once upon a time in America. David Lean for any of his films, Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, Great expectations etc. David Lynch, Mullholland drive is arguably his greatest work to date.
Steven Spielberg is always a crowd pleaser. Well deserved oscar for Schindler's List.

My personal favourites are:
David Lynch and Stanley Kubrick for scope
Coen Brothers and Jim Jarmusch for depth
Tim Burton and Jean-Pierre Jeunet for vision
Honourable mentions to Claude Berri, Sophia Coppolla, Bryan Singer,
Lifetime achievement awards to Alfred Hitchcock, Bergman, Scorsese and I suppose Spielberg, even if only for Jaws and Duel.....

Me! no Quinten tarrantino because his films are very interesting. Alfred Hitchcock was nominated the number one greatest film maker in the Total Film mag - i'll have to watch more of his stuff.
