What you have to do is start now and be very determined and very patient. Do all the school plays, take all the school drama and speech classes, try to act in commuity theatre plays, read every play you can get your hands on, read books on acting, try to get into a professional acting class. The reason people laugh at you is that it is generally thought to be impossible to become and actor. Not really, though, but it is a long and difficult road.

Find a local talent agency...they can point you in the right direction..and most of them have acting classes that they offer.
