Sharp objects are not allowed to be brought in the aircraft due to strict security requirements. Thus, do not bring your pipe knife because this will be retained by security personnel but will be given to you upon your return.

The knife would be fine in checked baggage but not as a carry-on item. The tobacco question probably depends on the country you are traveling to and how much you are bringing.
