For those who know who they are. I expect an answer.
I posted the same question 3 weeks ago and got no answers.
Certain people, in almost every question they care to reply to, they also give a star. Doing that, are they condoning the question for its igeniuty or is it a good way to collect points? Or is it politics? Or plain stupidity to recognise a really interesting question?
As we say "Kalos me ton astyfylax, alla kalos kai me ton xwrofylax". In other words intentional movements to be good with the asker to get the B.A. 10 points or to be on their best side.

Well, dear Pavlos, I can't talk for everybody. But personally when I answer a question I like and find interesting I star it, probably for the same reason hotels have stars. Does that really define it is a good place? Maybe. But mostly it's for other people to know that is a relatively good place (question in this case). That's only a reference.
And, true, we don't get anything out of it.
However, if I find a really bad question that I answer, I don't star it. Depends whether I like it or not. Like some time ago I found a question about "how to get the gear in falaraki?". Can you believe some people gave that a star? Unbelievable! I answered, but I wasn't going to give a star to something that I consider stupid and insulting.
Anyway, this is just my opinion.
Take care :D

Never thought of it the way you did. Why would somebody star a question, to look good to the Asker?

I am quite old here and as far as I know, giving or achieving stars don't have any use to asker or answerer. The only reason I star a question is to have in in my starred questions profile so that my contacts- and their contacts- could see it and give their opinions. I also like to come back and see the latest answers status some questions and my starred questions list enables me...just like Leprechaun and Leonarda also stated.

I will star your question as an example in order to see what some of my contacts think about this issue..

As per the thumbs up from my contacts issue, please note that I wouldn't care less. I got best answers with 10 or more thumbed down questions.

Ha, so that's what it is! I was wondering why this question in the Netherlands section all of a sudden was getting all those stars, we never have stars... Now I get it! :) And now I also get why I got 6 thumbs down to my answer too!... It's like the Eurovision Song Contest all over :P Do you guys think; "Hey, we invented democracy, let's see if we can destroy it"? (my answer was hidden because all of those thumbs down, I feel my freedom of speech was impeded on!)

Pavlo, i dont understand your point of view, and the greeks we must be united always...
Giving a star, doesnt mean anything,it means that you find the question interesting, or you want to transfer it to your contacts to answer..And certainly, you dont get any points of it..
It is not ingenuity, you must know that here it is a program of entertainment, and not fights...Many times i have been hard with people of other nationalities, and i swear, i have regretted it so much, because in reality we have nothing to divide between each other...Why so much noise for a star?We just enjoy ourselves here, dont take it so seriously..And i dont think that in our section we are all like ''maydanos'', it depends always on the question. If we have an information about travel to give, or if we have to express our opinion about a national or political topic...
Some users are older here, maybe they are more known, this doesnt mean that they try to get best answers, or to collect fans...If they have fans, it means that some people like their attitude, everyone has his favourites or not...
Please, let s be honest, we dont need to critisize between each other, we have so many other things to resolve, and to work as a united team all together in order to help people who are asking about our country, or to face others who disagree with us, always with respect first of all to ourselves as greeks , and to the others....

Personally i star a quesiton, when i want my contacts to see it or to find it easily after sometime. It doesn't always mean "the question is great".
