Ginger calms upset stomachs & nausea. Ginger Ale will suffice, but if you can make it to health food store, buy Ginger capsules. Ginger will also stop motion sickness.

To begin with, are you taking antibiotics for your kidney infection? If not, you'd better head straight to a doctor. DO NOT fool with kidney infections! The lump in your throat may be a secondary infection such as strep throat, which is another infection that could cause severe problems, including damage to your heart valves. If you are taking antibiotics, it's possible that your nausea is caused by them. In that case, go back to the doctor. He/she may switch antibiotics or advise you on how to lessen the uncomfortable feeling (perhaps you can try eating a little bit of food when taking the pills. Don't drink too much water on an empty stomach because that will increase the "motion sickness" feeling. On the other hand, do make sure to drink plenty of good fluids along with a good diet. (Avoid eating too much protein. High protein diets are hard on the kidneys. That's why people who go on these high protein diets should always drink a lot of water to help flush out the kidneys). Good luck!

I would recommend seeing your doctor again (if you have already about the kidney infection) to have them evaluate the situation with the nauseau further but in the mean time I would recommend sticking to eating lightly and drinking liquids. Things like 7 Up and Gingerale can be of help. Also, you can make a tea out of fresh ginger. You can find it in the supermarkets or even at Health Food stores. If not check to see if there are any International stores such as for like Asian and Indian (Indian from India) because they often have fresh ginger.

Then boil some water in a pan or your coffeepot and then cut a couple pieces from the root to put in the water. After a few minutes of letting the ginger flavor getting in to the water pour some in a cup and drink after it has had a minute to cool.

Ginger is very good for helping the digestive system.

Peppermint tea works well for mild nausea, maybe that's worth a try? It certainly wont do you any harm and will probably make a nice alternative to the tons of water you should be drinking for that kidney infection. Ugh, it's lousy being ill. Hope you feel better soon :)
