going to bars is old news and sleasy too, try going somewhere different like a mic night or poetry and coffee night. or try a cooking class or learn french. or wine tasting club or rock climbing i bet you might meet some new friends

Only if you find it detrimental to your well being. I enjoy one beer (Coors Light), shoot pool, maybe a dart game or two, listen to great jute box or live music-then drive safely home.
I see no harm in that-and feel that it is inexpensive as a recreational activity.
