some trees outside my fencing is now growing over and through it which some have thawns on, i want to treat my fence but cannot not get because of these trees. The houseing company who own these trees have said my fence looks ok, and the tree are not ready to me removed for another 3 years, does that mean i am not aloud to treat my own fence.

Prune away no one will bother about it, you are allowed to prune anything that grows onto your property.

I had a similar problem apparently the law states that if any trees or branches come over your side of the fence they can be trimmed by you but you must put the trimmings back over the owners fence or fgive them to the owner in person - i know this sounds silly but apparently if you dont it is classes as 'theft' we did it to our neighbours tree - when we offered them back our neighbour just laughed at us. If i was in your position i would just cut the branches and place them on the other side of the fence to cover yourself and then treat your fence. hope this helps.

I should step carefully...the housing company appears to have authority over you.keep your eyes open for spies then try cutting some. Housing companies can be awkward. I will give you some idea..when I was employed I worked near a building site. They dug some earth and chalk away but left an area of bramble bushes, they built houses for elderly people. They thought that elderly people did'nt mind brambles. They named the site.....Thornville.

Its not up to the housing association to jude your maintenance shedule for your fence.

They just don't want to cut them back because they budget for it every 4 years probably.

You are entitled to trim back to gain acces to your fence provided you do not endager others or the stabilty of the trees.

In theory the cutting belong to the housing association but most people ignore that rule.

You are allowed to cut off any branches that overhang your property as long as you return the cuttings! Honestly! Cut them off and throw the cuttings back over your fence!

Any plant that grows over to your boundary can be cut back. You must ensure you give the cuttings back to the owner as all cuttings remain their property. (throw them over their side of the fence).

What a cheek the housing company have..... who do they think they are???!!!!!
