salt gets into all water by the weathering of rocks that contain sodium, a very common mineral. The water flows down to the sea, and as water evaporates from the ocean, the salt gets more concentrated in the sea water.

Sometimes parts of the ocean dry up, or get cut off from the ocean so that the water that gets in them never makes it to an ocean, like the Great Salt Lake in Utah, or the Dead Sea. In these places the salt gets really strong, and after millions of years they sometimes dry up altogether, leaving salt deposits in the ground. A great big cake of dried up salty ocean or lake water.

Salt is either gotten out of salt water but evaporating the water, or it is mined from the cakes left by drying oceans. There are many other salts besides table salt (sodium chloride) that are left in the dried ocean waters. Those are removed by various dissolving and settling processes so that it is mostly sodium chloride (which people like best).

It doesn't reproduce, it isn't a living thing!
Salt is made by the sea crashing against the rocks, and the minerals from the rocks make salt.
It's taken from the sea by taking some of the water and evapourating it. You will be left with salt crystals.

salt is deosited in the oceans by the many fresh water streams flowing into it. it is magnified by the evaporation of ocean waters whereby only water is removed leaving salt and other minerals. the water evaporated falls as rain on land picking up more salt and minerals to be returned to the ocean. by this process the ocean becomes more salty.
