Panic attacks occur because a person has either been in a horrifying situation or perceives themselves to be in that type of situation.
Panic attacks are awful. I had to take medication in the past to control them because I couldn't leave my street without having one.
Was in a head-on collision on a main road about 3/4 mile from my house.
It was the 4th time I had been hit in an auto accident and the accident had fatalities.
I hadn't had any attacks in a few years until I was in Colorado last fall.
We were on the interstate in the middle lane and nearly got squashed by an 18 wheeler.
Couldn't go left or right. My son knew what was happening. He said,"that's OK Mom, now I see what gives you a panic attack." He and his wife were also nearly scared to death too.

Yes, I've had panic attacks. They are no fun. If you have them, see a medical professional for help.

Yes, I have suffered from anxiety attacks and still do from time to time. I must say it's not something you would like to experience. The best way to describe it (from my own personal experince) it feels like the world is caving in on you. I suffer from shortness of breath, rapid heart beats, sweating and the sense of not knowing of whats going on around you. You feel helpless and almost like your about to die. Once my body calms itself down it can take me a few days to fully recover. It's almost like life had been sucked out of me. Now I take medication to control it and I haven't suffered from many attacks since then.

Yes. I went through a really awful period of anxiety attacks when I was in junior high school. I was dealing with a lot of stress. My mom and brothers were dead, and I was coping with a seriously abusive father (who later killed himself) and some other awful situations. I was a real mess, but I got through it.

Yes, I have. I don't have these attacks too often, but when they occur, they can be pretty scary. My worst incident occur ed while I was driving and hyperventilating. I pulled over since I became very dizzy. I have since learned to cope by using a paper bag into which I use to breathe in and out.

Yes I have. My first one was I think a year ago. When I started school and it feels weird having them. Well my parents had to pick me up early like 3 times that same week because I kept having them.

Yes, I had just smoked some pot back in my teenage years and went to the tanning salon. The thing got stuck closed and man did I freak. It was that coffin shaped type. After that I gave up smoking and tanning.
