Good question. I wonder if you were contacted through LA casting as I was. Just wondering if they send these invites to "everyone."

This is an old blog so not sure if anyone will read this or not. Clearly, you all are very GREEN to Hollywood! First off, most of the bigger agents are not SAG or AFTRA affiliated. It won't change whether you get a SAG-Aftra job. When I first moved to LA in 1991. I had only training and theatre experience from NY. I interviewed with a lot of agents, 63 to be exact! Some were very big agents, like ICM. Not one took me except commercial agents! I spent years trying to get a Theatrical agent, doing more theatre and always in class. Then I got into another field in the business where I got to work with all the big actors and actresses. This gave me an opportunity to be able to ask them HOW did they get the agent that got them the audition that got them the job??? The answer was ALWAYS the same…someone they knew got them in. A boyfriend, girlfriend, relative…some connection. Of course, only if you're good will you have any longevity. During these years I never stopped trying. Someone finally took me on, Michael Zanuck! I submitted on actors access and they requested I come in. I found him to be a straight shooter. He took me on Theatrically and commercially! Yes, he said I need new head shots…news flash…they all tell you that and they don't get kick backs from photographers! I did not have a good experience getting photos taken by his guy but rarely do I ever have a good experience anyway. In any case, I got my first audition after about a month. It was for "Two Broke Girls"…and I booked the job! I was at Warner Brothers for a week acting on a major TV show. I was treated with great respect and got paid well. That same week, Michael Zanuck got me my "first ever" interview to be a series regular for a new pilot. I didn't get it but I am still elated that I even was considered and had the audition at Paramount studios, with Jeff Greenberg! Thats been my experience…Michael got me closer than anyone else ever did! And I'm still trying!

I know he's legit and he's been around. Good is relative. If you have the opportunity you should meet with him and see if you two have the same ideas about your career.

good lucK!

I think he is supposed to be one of the best. But be careful and really check this out, before signing with anyone.
