I recently learned that a member of my family is quite the bigot. Although, when you inform her that she is a bigot, she insists she is not. She says she is just "stating facts." This is a member of MY FAMILY!! WTF?! My parents did not raise us this way..what would you do?

Yes I have!
Sometimes when you're raised the same as all the children in your family someone can still turn out to have a huge problem that can be very devastating to the entire family.

If you're asking what to do about a bigot.... I would simply do my best to ignore them and NOT engage them in a conversation about their bigotry. Maybe easier said than done but you'll never "win" and only cause more frustration for yourself.

Good luck! :)

Nope. Probably because we've pretty much always let it all hang out... no surprises. About the bigot thing -- I just figure that life, the world, the universe and all that stuff, will point us all toward the truth if we are only willing to see it. Therefore, I avoid the topic with family members, because there are forces more powerful than myself that are already trying to shine the light on the bigoted one. I save my energy for battles that I have a chance of winning.

Yes I have, but nothing to the magnitude of being a bigot.

My older sister gave up a life with a successful attorney to be with a guy that has an active criminal career, horrible credit, no job, spends her money, has cost her several jobs running after him late at night trying to find him, but claims she loves him. Only thing I can figure out, he must have an Aqua Hairspay can his pants.

I found out that one is gay and that a cousin and his wife are active swingers. I was not suprised by the first, but the swinging thing took me by complete shock because they are the type of people you just would of never guessed. Life is messed up sometimes. But, hey, if that is what floats their boats, I won't say anything. It's none of my business anyways. Have a good day! :)

I have learned that almost every family has a black sheep.
I would still love my family member, just not love their actions.

Sounds like it may be your sister. Maybe she has had a bad experience(s) and her values have changed.
Does she think you are something, too? Bet she does.
