I have, especially since December 2000. I worked for years as a civilian election board chairman, and I witnessed my county's progression from a hand-typed, all-paper voter registration list and the suitcase-style Votomatics, to an immediate, on-line, computerized voter-registration signature-verification system, and the book-like, touch-screen electronic Diebold voting machines. It doesn't seem to make any difference. ALL politicians seem to lie, lie, lie through their teeth to us, all the while they grab, grab, grab, the truckloads of cash being handed out to them all by their corporate handlers. To quote Cher, "If you take their money, you have to take their sh!t, too." Until all federal elections are publicly funded, someone, and I'd guess everyone, will be on the "take". They will be forever beholden to those who fund them, and for you and I who have to work for a living, that doesn't mean "us".

During that last Presidential campaign, three famous music artist printed up 100,000 t-shirts that said "VOTE or DIE" and being a former Marine and all, I'd rather not talk about dead people right now. Face it you guys, this country is a damn mess and the way that I see it, I'd hate to have the responsibility that the new President will have because it will take at least two terms to mop up all of the blood off the floor left by the last two terms. I'm looking at a story titled "top 12 reasons e-voting systems threaten democracy worldwide" how do you think Bush beat Gore to get in office in the first Place? It all came down to a Bush state called Florida... E-voting, there's no physical evidence that anyone has voted and much, much more. But we need to vote!

Clashman is right. They WANT you to get so disgusted with politics that you don't vote and don't pay attention.
I have lots of friends who don't vote. I tell them to vote. I don't tell them who to vote for because it doesn't really matter. What matters is that they pay attention to find out if the person they voted for keeps his promises. The more people who vote, and who care about what happens after that, the better things will be.
Democracy is not a spectator sport, it is a participation sport. People not voting, not caring, are not the result of the problem, they are the CAUSE of the problem. Politicians get away with this crap because WE let them.

All politicians are idiots, but you can't give up your right to vote...that's what the right wing wants you to do...get so fed up with your elected officials so they can appoint people instead of voting for them...they're very tricky...

(If you are talking about the US Presidential election)
That means you haven't heard of Ron Paul, his positions, constitutional principles and his voting record in Congress.
