i know the ferrets are illegal in california
but i also heard that if you have purchased a ferret out side the state of california you can legally own it in california
is this true?
if it is im gonna go buy me a ferret

"In California, domestic ferrets are legal to import, transport, or possess only by permit. Permits are issued for specific purposes, such as for medical research or for transportation of confiscated ferrets or rescued stray ones out of state. Importation and possession of ferrets as pets are not permitted in California. Many of the states in the U.S. that allow ferrets as pets do so under permits or certain restrictions."
Keeping ferrets as pets is illegal in California regardless of how or where they were obtained.

No, buying a ferret outside of the state and bringing it in is still illegal. It is illegal to possess a ferret in the state of California, it doesn't matter where you got it from.

California confuses me with all of its (ridiculous) ferret laws. It just seems like more trouble then it is worth.
To find out for sure and avoid head-ache for both you and your new pet, please call your local animal shelter and ask them. They are up to speed on all the laws, stupid or not, and will be able to accurately answer all of your questions.

Not legal, and not a good idea. Ferrets are not really pet like animals.
