I like hardcovers because I love the sound of cracking open a new book. I just don't get the same feeling with a paperback. Plus, my paperbacks don't last as long as my hardcovers.
I have to admit though: paperbacks are more portable.

eg: harry potter 1st edition books
im buying hardcover.. coz I dont have to take much good care about it.. :) and..it's almost maintenance free..

When reading from a book I find it easier to have a hard surface to hold onto and it keeps the pages flat. Hardcovers are more durable and I like the weight of them. I feel like hardcovers are more of a collectors item; or that they look better on a shelf. To me, a hard bound book just looks more nice.

I prefer hardcovers because they are easier to read. But paperbacks are much cheaper.

I'm with you, paperbacks are way better. They're cheaper, smaller, and I can bend the book without worrying about breaking it. =)

paperbacks are easier to read, and take places. They fit in a handbag, and you can fold the covers back. Hardbacks look better on a book shelf
