Receptors receive the stimulus and pass it on to the nerve cell. This is converted into the impulse, which is passed on from one neuron to another through the synapse. The impulse finally reaches the brain. The nerve which does it, is called the sensory nerve. The command from the brain goes to another type of nerve called the motor nerve. This command finally reaches the effector organ.
