Well fear of the unknown can be scary for some. Not knowing the reaction one will get from the person they are kissing.

When I was 12 and a 16 year old guy wanted to kiss me I was totally scared and disgusted how such an old guy would want to do that. Still as he won this kiss as I could not solve a riddle, I had to bravely go through this "traumatic kissing experience". -:)
No, I do not need psychological help with it anymore. I got over it and I did release this trauma-:)

Well if you believe this then it might help because old people used to believe that it was as mingling of the souls.
I think at the same time that it can show that you care for another person and at that same instance you can tell how that person truly feels about you. If they don't care about you then they won't really give themselves in that instance. It's kind of like a polygraph test and some people don't want to really know what another person thinks of them.
