I was having a party the other night when I decided to show someone on ebay a piece of clothing I was interested in. Well I guess I forgot to log out and the next morning I find out someone at the party bid on a boat and won it. I've contacted the seller and they said they don't care and they want the money (almost $3000), and if I don't pay they will take me to court. What can I do, the seller will not back down and I simply don't have the money?

As far as the seller is concerned, you bid on the item and won. Their case is weak as far as trying to take you to court although they certainly could. At the very least you should expect negative feedback.

YOU are responsible for keeping your account secure and are responsible for any fallout if you fail to do so. Happy boating.

hahahaaaaa they are crazy! Contact ebay and let them know. You can send an e-mail or call them and let them know what happened. It only costs a few bucks to post an item on there so they are just pissed off because they thought you won their jacked up boat...SERIOUSLY~!!

I buy on ebay ALL the time. This has happened to me, I let ebay know as well as the seller and it settles down. Let them know it will be cheaper if they put it back up for auction rather then court. Let them know you have contacted Ebay yourself and let them know what happened. Since this is probably is being looked into just make sure you respond and keep putting someone got in your computer and you were NOT the one who bid on the item. They really won't go through the trouble of taking you to court. They are talking out there ARss!

Call EBAY and talk to them or E-mail them about this dispute. Let them know what happened. This happens ALL the time!!

Just keep PROTESTING!!! They''ll get tired of it.

For there to be a binding contract, there must be an offer, an acceptance, and consideration. Consideration would be money changing hands or the delivery of some or all of the items purchased.
