the foam seriously looked like some contagious uh mold or something,, it was bascailly all over the place in the back. the person who had it had left it in the garage for about 2 years..it was also filled with webs andstuff...but someone said it was just insulation BUT I SCRAPED IT OFF CUZ IT WAS TOO GROSSSSS I THOT IT WAS GONNA MAKE ME SICK..what now? maybe it wasnt insulation?

it was foam insulation.

The other guy is right, it is foam. They assemble a liner in the outer cabinent and blow the foam precursor (sort of like shaving cream) into the space between; some times, there is a crack and some gets out before it solidifies. There is no need for panic; sit back and enjoy a cold beer out of your mini-fridge.

A further note:
I don't think it's packing foam if it was, it wouldn't need to be scraped off, as you described; it would be a specifically molded piece, wedged, or taped in place.

Sounds like packing material, but it definitely needed to be removed. You don't want anything prevent the rejection of heat from the inside of the fridge and you don't want to overheat your compressor. The only thing that should be insulated in that aqrea is the suction line going to the compressor (larger line)
