I believe it is in everyones nature to do so .Also sometimes a lie can be a good thing.

well theres that and the fact that we know what the consquesnces will be if we tell the truth and we know that there wlill be less or no consequnces if we dont get caught lieing so we lie and never really think about what will happen if we get caugh or that its wrong..

Maybe it's a bad habit. Sometimes it is the easy way out.
It can be the natural thing to do for some people.
