tomorrow is my freshman orientation for high school. we will be put into groups to meet other people from a different middle school. i really would like to make a lot of friends. so besides smiling what should i do? should i approach them and be teh first person to talk? the only question i have prepared is "what middle school did you go to?"
do you recommend any other questions i could ask?
and what should i wear? i would wear shorts and a t shirt but i dont want to give the wrong impressions to people. im sort of a prep. i have polos, t shirts, jeans. my usual wear for school is jeans and a tshirt, but im sort of trying to make it more unique this year.

It seems like you have a pretty good idea of what to say! Just start off by asking what school they went to. Try complimenting something that they're wearing (I always feel so flattered when I recieve compliments!).
I don't know if you're into bands and stuff (I'm not a prep), but I think band t-shirts always look unique and kind of make a good impression on someone who loves that band too.
If you're not into that kind of stuff, try wearing a cute, casual dress, a denim jacket, flats, and a cute headband or ribbon in your hair. Try not to wear anything that says "HOLLISTER" or "ABERCROMBIE" at first, becasue it really makes it look like you have NO individuality at all, because that's what everyone else wears, plus it makes you like a walking billboard.

Don't expect much from the first day, it'll be too confusing. Pay attention to where your classes are, where the bathrooms are, the cafeteria...Don't worry about making friends or how you look, just be yourself. Phonies stand out. If someone talks to you, make a little joke like "are you lost too?" You'll have friends in no time.

Most important thing: have fun! I suggest a polo and jeans....you want to stand out a bit and be attractive, but don't go overboard with a sombrero and scuba gear.
