Asking "why does love have to be a game?" is like asking "why does the sky have to be a Giraffe?"
You're confusing love with immaturity, jealousy, frustration... they're other emotions, separate from love and you're attributing them to love. Love is something totally separate from whatever you're experiencing. I'll say "it is not" if I damn well please, and you do not "know it is," just as you do not know the sky is a giraffe. Call me an @$$hole... but somebody has to testify for love (to quote David Byrne).

great answer adrian, my baby makes a lot of sense eh *wink lol
aside from the fact that there is always a loser and a winner, just like any game that we are already familiar with, love has its own rules, rules to be followed, rules that are drafted by society or by the people involved, you can break a couple of these rules but you have to suffer a penalty.
love also has its own spectators, people that were involved thats hard to rule out. they affect the relationship if you let them be. love also has its own reward, a trophy or a medal, and on my opinion that is happiness..

I agree with Anthony, although I wouldn't have put it so harshly. Love is not a game, but people who love each other play games. People who love each other also eat food, that doesn't mean love is food.

becuase love is a munipulative thing; it makes us stupid, it makes us believe, it makes us vunrable, and so it takes, and pokes fun of becuase we abuse the word to much. Pay back for everytime we say "I love you", but in the end we don't really mean it.

It doesn't have to be a game, nor should it be.
