My Sneezy died last year and I still feel like I didn't do enough.Sneezy was my LLapso/poodle mix.. we saved him from the shelter.. he was designanted to be destroyed in a week....we had him for 16 yrs...he was a part of the family. I miss him so much people think I am weird
Am I? I have another dog..sheperd/huskey/ lab mix...she was the runt...but looking at her now you would think she was the biggest...she loves the pickup rides and runing for who gods know where (we have 10 acres of land)..we love her to death..like family..is that weird?
I started a pet cemetery because of Sneezy and people think I am stupid for wasting 1 acre of land for dead animals...so far I have 2 pets buried there.
So am I stupid and weird??????

NO WAY!!! I had a cat for 22 years!! It is a part of the family...I went on to have children, nieces and nephews and if any animal dies we have a prayer service for it as we bury it!!! I think this is great for the children!!! NO, you are not weird...Even if I did not have children I would still do what I do.. I actually pray that GOD (who can do anything) Will make sure my animals will be with me in heaven...lol..of course that is if I make it...

No, you are not weird. Some people connect with animals more easily than others. You seem to be one of them. My pets (cats and dogs) have always been part of my family. When my dog Maggie (a terrier mix) died, I was devastated. I couldn't even think about getting another dog for a whole year! But I did. I've had Freya (lab/retriever mix...also a runt) for 12 years now. Is she part of the family? You bet!

I think it's wonderful that you have set aside some land to be a pet cemetery. That's not being weird...that's being human.

No, I still have not gotten over my Mastiff Boo bear that died 2 years ago. He could howl show tunes and was seriously one of a kind. There are a lot of people that feel like they need to morn their pets. When I die I plan to be buried with my dog. His ashes sit on my mantle as we speak. I paid two-hundred dollars to have him cremated and I thought it was worth every penny I spent to honor my good friend. If you advertise at vet offices for people that really care about their pets it could really be a good business for you. I would do it if I could and even hold services, because pets are worth every penny for the love they give is priceless. Sorry to hear about Sneezy I know he must have been a real loyal friend.

No,you're not weird, you just love your animals.I have over 40 animals buried on my property, and several urns full of ashes, because there is no more room to bury them. These are animals that I loved.I have had many dogs ,cats and other animals over the past 47 years of my life, and they were members of the family. My cousin has a pet cemetery in her yard as well, and so does my brother. You're not stupid or weird, and don't let anyone say you are. They just don't understand how a person can love an animal so much.

BC ~ LOL,you make me laugh! I have such a bad back ( partly from taking care of so many animals,) that I can hardly dig anymore! And,I bury mine with toys and treats and wrapped in blankets, too. One of my dogs,Spike,a Chihuahua is buried in a baby t -shirt,with an angel pin on it,and a stuffed teddy (well, all of my animals have some sort of toy) And,when I had to have my dog,Scout cremated,I had a rawhide bone cremated with her, because she loved them so much! We ARE weird, but it's a good kind of weird!

You're an animal lover.
We all are weird.

Got to stop playing the "what if's " though.
I've got a feeling you did all that was possible at the time.

Now for the acre of land...

Planning on rescuing every doggie in the surrounding counties?
That's a lot of land to reserve for the family pets.
How about landscaping the majority and leaving a section for those who'll eventually need some space.

bty, We adopt rescued dachshunds. Have a few in our back yard. All got their blankets and toys. One, a fresh package of liverwurst -his favorite occasional treat.

[5 mins. later] I just read Tammy's reply. The next time I need to place a pet to rest I'm calling her. She has to be in better condition to dig,
now, if I could just talk the vet into taking care of my health needs...

No way, you are just an animal lover! I know what it is like to love animals, I have a great dog who I adopted from a shelter, she is only 3 so I don't have to worry about anything happening to her for a while, I don't know what I would do if anything were to ever happen to her. I think your pet graveyard is a really great idea.

You are not weird. You are a great person first off, for saving an animal from the shelter. You are also a loving person, for treating this animal so dearly and making him a part of your family. Your dogs are lucky to have you. Dogs arent just our property, they are living creatures too that deserve lots and lots of love!

I dont think you are weird at all if anything I would think those other people are weird for not caring. To me having one animals die is just as hard as having one of my relatives die. I have a grave for my old cat Fenix(abisinion..i think thats how you spell it) some people thinks its weird cause I always put flowers on it but I had him since i was three and he got ran over when I was 13 I had him for almost all my life it was hard for my other cat Shivah(balanese )too he always looked after her, If Shivah died you bet I would have a grave for her next to her brothers.

It is absolutely NOT weird. You are an animal lover, and unfortunately there aren't more people like you.
