a = 17 - b
(17 - b) (b) = 52
17b - b² = 52
b² - 17b + 52 = 0
(b - 4) (b - 13) = 0
b = 4 , b = 13
a = 13 , a = 4

a.b=52=>a=52/b . So a+b=17=>52/b+b=17=>
52+b^2=17b=>b^-17b+52=0 =>
b=(17+sqrt(17^2-4*52))/2=13 and a=4
or
b=(17-sqrt(17^2-4*52))/2=4 and b=13

First, solve for one variable in terms of the other.

Substitute that into the other equation and solve for the other variable.
