Kaitlin Elizabeth to be exact. Should I feel guilty that I am considering naming my child one of THE most popular names?? If I have a boy I intend on naming him Jeremy Matthew... I really have my mind set on that one. I might find out the sex of the baby tomorrow... Anyway, what is your opinion on naming your child something you know is very popular?

When I had my first baby we decided on Kaitlin or Eliza if it was a girl (aidan if a boy). When I was in labour, I had 3 midwives and the doctor. 2 of the midwives and the doctor had girls named Kaitlin. When she was born, we named her Eliza!! 3 out of 4 was just too much for us!! And now that she has started school this year I am so glad i didn't call her Kaitlin as there are 2 in her class.
Just think really hard about it. Maybe you can do better??

I have a friend that had a little boy about 10moths ago and named him Noah. Since then I have met like 8 other little boys named Noah that are under the age of 2.
It's not a big deal to her she knew she was picking a popular name. I have a daughter I named Camrynn which is also a popular name (for both sexes) and she's six now and thinks it's cool when she meets someone with her name. We chose to spell her name a little different and I haven't met one Camrynn to this day spelled exactly like my daughter. Also, you have to think, what's popular now won't me most popular forever. It;'s up to you but I think Kaitlin is a beautiful name and one your daughter(?)would be proud of. At least it's not something to be teased about. I think that was my biggest concern was how can kids turn this or that into a mean nickname.
Good Luck!

I don't think Kaitlin is that popular anymore. Plus she could always go by Kate, Kat, or Katie. I do prefer Katherine Elizabeth to Kaitlin Elizabeth though because Katherine is a classic and will never be trendy or go out of style. just a thought. I think you should choose the name you love.

If you love it, then go for it.

If you don't want your daughter to be one of many Kaitlin Elizabeth maybe go for a name like Kaitlin and call her Kaitlin, like a nickname?

Katherine Elizabeth
Kaja Elizabeth
Catalina Elizabeth
Cayley Elizabeth
Kalyn Elizabeth
Karina Elizabeth
Kayleen Elizabeth
Keighley Elizabeth

Whats wrong with naming your child after something popular... I think Kaitlin is a great name, it really doesn't matter what other people think, If you like the name a lot go for it!

It is your baby name her what you want! I love the name Kaitlin, I think it is very classy and feminine. As for it being popular, I wouldn't worry to much about it, I don't think it is as popular as a lot of other names out there!

It's popular for a reason--because a lot of people like it. There's nothing wrong with naming your child a popular name. It's a heck of a lot better than trying to be all cutesy and original and choosing some ridiculous hard-to-spell crap name that misses the "original" and "trendy" mark and falls into the "trying too hard" category! Name her/him what you want. Later you can give her/him a fun nickname!

personally i dont like common names because i have a common name.. and i was never the only "amanda" in my class or at work. But it must not be that bad since everyone names thier kids common names (well a lot of people). Kaitlin is somewhat common but not what everyone is nameing their kid- i absolutely hate madison... everyone it seems names their daughter that! It kinda like an overplayed song.. its nice till you hear it for the 400th time.
Maybe think of giving her a simmilar name or a unique spelling. Maybe kaylin, kaylee, kayla???
or maybe spelling it like katelyn, kaitlan, kaytlin or kate lynn.....

Don't feel guilty hon- name your child what YOU want. It is a very pretty name. I personally like naming my children names that aren't as common, but hey. Your child. Jeremy Matthew is also an adorable name.
