Led Zeppelin was an English rock band that formed in September 1968. Led Zeppelin consisted of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones. With their heavy, guitar-driven sound, Led Zeppelin are regarded as one of the first heavy metalbands.[1][2]Theirrock-infusedinterpretation of the blues
also incorporated rockabilly,[3]reggae,[4] soul,[5] funk,[6] jazz,[7] classical, Celtic, Indian, Arabic, folk, pop, Latin, and country. The band did not release the popular songs from their albums as singles in Britain, as they preferred to develop the concept of album-oriented rock.[8]

Over 25 years after disbanding following Bonham's 1980 death, Led Zeppelin continue to be held in high regard for their artistic achievements, commercial success, and broad influence. The band have sold more than 300 million albums worldwide,[9] including 109.5 million sales in the United States,[10] and they are the only band to have had all their albums reach the U.S. Billboard Top 10.[11] Led Zeppelin are ranked No. 1 on VH1's list of the 100 greatest artists of hard rock.[12]

Led Zeppelin originally performed as "The New Yardbirds" on a Scandinavian tour in 1968. They changed their name to Led Zeppelin a few months later. They recorded nine proper albums (if you count the soundtrack to their film, "The Song Remains the Same") during the time they were together. After their breakup there were two box sets that I'm aware of.

Contrary to what another poster said, John Bonham was on ALL of Led Zeppelin's albums.

I actually got to see them on their final U.S. tour in 1978. Then I discovered punk rock and my life was forever changed.

Led Zeppelin is a rip off band. A cover band at best. 'Whoa' you say. 'How can you say that?'.

Well it's true, many, many of their hit songs are complete rip offs of other bands works without mention (in my opinion and others). Don't believe Me?

Do a search for led zeppelin rip offs (since for some reason, yahoo won't let any url on this subject go through, Hmmm)

Take a listen to the original and zeppelin version. You will be awe struck. Stairway to heaven is a COMPLETE rip off!!!(again in my opinion and others).
