my 3 week old son is usally colicy but after a bit of rocking him he will usually fall asleep. yesterday i decided to change his gerber bottles to the playtex that helps for colic by reducing the air in the bottle that causes gas. he usually does a number 2 2-3 times a day.. but today he hasnt at all and hes just passing gas and he cries every time he does so. hes been crying for about 4 hours straight ive tried everything, changing his diaper rocking him feeding him cuddling him gripe water etc. nothing working.. does anyone have any suggestions for the colic.. i wish i could take his pain from him and have it myself.. i just dont know what to do anymore.

Warm some baby oil very lightly and massage his little tummy until he passes gas. Rub around in counter clock-wise circles it'll help him release the gas. Good luck and good loving with baby.

Mommy, his lactose intolerance can be the root of his problems.

Colic is a nightmare. Two of my three kids and colic and one with a digestive problem that required predigested formula so I know where you are coming from.

I highly recommend Ovol drops which you can purchase at the pharmacy they were the end of colic for me.....where were they when my first child was born....lol

The ovol drops have worked for everyone I know who has had a baby with colic in the past few years. If does not have the desired effects, I would check back in with the doctor. My daughter they thought had lactose intollerance.....it turned out to be a digestive disorder where the lactose free formula was too difficult for her to break down. Once we got her settled on the new and of course very expensive formula the ovol drops worked like a charm for her too!

Good luck and try to remember the more you become frustrated the more your baby feeds off your emotions and can even cry harder. Take breaks and I really hope you have someone to share the load with!

Best of luck!

I suggest you take him to the doctor because if he isn't having a bowel movement at least once a day and is taking the proper amount of milk and is crying, especially when you push is tummy, he could have what my baby brother had when he was a month old and that was a knotted bowel. Somehow my brother's bowel got a knot it it and the way it was sitting in the abdomen wouldn't allot the bowels to move properly. That can kill a baby if it gets too serious. He also could have any number of internal problems that could cause his pain and the gas may just be a symptom coming from what is really wrong with him. Any baby that acts like he is in pain needs medical attention to rule out anything if nothing else, plus your pediatrition can give you medications or advise on different formulas, etc. if needed. Get medical help as soon as possible.

Johnson & Johnson sells Mylecon drops, which, when taken orally, reduce your son's gas pain. I assume since he is taking the playtex bottles, he is using formula. You might try switching to a lactose free formula called "Similac", which is quite expensive compared to other formula, but it could be the formula that's the culprit. Finally, this is sooo simple, but you may not have tried it. Lay your son face down, along your arm, when he has these gas pains. It helps him pass it without straining.

Oh! I know..how it is to have a colic baby. It's such a nightmare :(
Yeah right its very painful to babies and horrible for parents to see them suffer.
I switched my daughter from Iron fortified to low iron (check with ur doc first) then lactose free formula.
Yeah as said try Mylecon. That's the only thing which works... can't say always!
You can put ur baby on her stomach face downward, either on your lap or on the bed (make sure he can breathe properly) and gently rub his back. It worked for my daughter.
But don't worry it'll go away. Its not gonna stay forever.

my baby's pediatrician gave me something for her gas (prescription) Hyocasamine (not sure how to spell it) You only give a couple drops and it calms my baby down a lot, almost instantly. Then I give her a warm bath with the lights dim and she gets better right away. Good luck

I tied everything until my grandma told me of a secret that worked:)
Take a towel, put it in the microwave for 30sec or until warm to the touch (not hot) and put it on the baby stomach. It worked perfectly, unfortunately you have to re-warm the towel so I had 2. One on the baby, one in the microwave. She loved it, and so did we:)

my son was that way too. i had to change his formula 3 times before he finally did not have colic anymore. you can also try letting him suck on a dum dum pop. it works wonders too.
