What you want to do first is multiply both sides by t to get rid of that nasty fraction:
t^2 + 9 = -10t
Now we move all terms to one side and solve the quadratic:
t^2 + 10t + 9 = 0
Hey! We can factor it!
(t+1)(t+9) = 0
So now we solve for t:
(t+1) = 0 >>> t = -1
(t+9) = 0 >>> t = -9
And those are our two answers.

t + 9/t = -10
Multiply both sides by t to get:
t^2 + 9= -10t
add 10t to both sides
t^2+10t+9=0
factor
(t+1)(t+9) = 0
t= -1 OR t = -9

t² + 9 = - 10t
t² + 10t + 9 = 0
(t + 9) (t + 1) = 0
t = - 9 , t = - 1

t + 9/t =-10
time two side with 't' we got
t^2+9=-10t
t^2+10t+9=0
and we got t=-1and t=-9

t+9/t= -10
t(t)+9/t(t)= -10(t)
t²+9=-10t
t²+10t+9=
(t+1)(t+9)
t=-1,-9

Your homework is your problem for not paying attention in class.
ADDITIONAL:
I would like to say that all those who have helped have helped a person cheat their way into a better grade than they deserve, I really meant it too that she should have paid attention in class instead of prating about with her school mates or making goo goo eyes at the boy she fancies in her class... get the picture? No I didn't think so.
