the ticker's broken. it's like twitching or something. i would like an estimate about of how much it would cost for it to be fix? -- any watch experts?

I'm not an expert, just a guy who wanted to get an estimate on an old wind-up I had. No digital display, no battery, not even a self wind model. All of the local jewelers I talked to said it would be a minimum $10 - $15 just to open the case and take a look. If all it needed was a simple cleaning, no extra charge.

But if parts needed to be replaced, it would be the cost of parts plus labor. If parts needed to be buffed or polished, rust removed, etc. it would add a lot more to the total cost. Worst case scenario from two jewelers was at least $75.

Since this watch had no sentimental value, wasn't some kind of family heirloom, etc. I decided it wasn't even worth the $10 to have it checked out.
