Living in a western society where Jessica Simpson-types are the standard of beauty makes it hard to accept any differences we all have in appearance. Even though are differences make us unique.

White women use creams and surgery to look younger, use collagen and restylene to plump lips, get breast implants, refrain from eating, dye their hair. Asians sometimes get the eyelid surgery (the most common surgery in Asia, which makes their eyes look bigger). Some Indian women use lightening creams to lighten the skin color. See a lot of people want to be a bit closer to the White standard nowadays.

You should also know that not every Black woman with long straight hair is wearing a weave. I'm tired of ppl assuming that, because its not always true. If natural kinky/curly Black hair comes to the shoulders, when you straighten it it will come to the middle of the back, because curled up hair *appears* shorter.

Natural Black hair ranges. Some people have tight kinks, others have loose curls, and many fall in between. Below are some women with natural, un-altered hair.

Well I can definitely tell you that not all Black women wear weaves. And no, there's nothing wrong with our original hair, provided we take care of it. I should know - I'm Black and I've never had a weave in my life. As for why some Black women get weaves and some don't, for the most part it comes down to personal preference. I won't say that some women don't do it as a way to conform to a "European" standard of beauty, because we all know there are people out there like that. But those of us that are secure in our self-image do what we want with our hair because we like certain styles, not to please someone else.

Why do white women wear extentions?

I've learned that weave helps give damaged hair time to grow out. I wore it for a short time.

Weave is cool because you can change up styles and nothing is wrong with black women hair its just when we use too many perms are hair can get short (goes for any race) like I stopped using perms...perms are good but not offen..and my hair is growing out long again.

White women wear weave too and men also. As usual copying from another cultures style because they don't have the imagination to create their own.

Some women just like to be versatile. And it protects the natural hair from everyday stress and styling. That doesn't mean they don't like their natural hair.

You'd be surprised how many white women wear weaves, only they call them extensions. It's the same thing.

just like all women, black women want to enhance their looks. Weaves are a multi million dollar business, and nowadays you see just as many other races of women wearing weaves, not just black.

Cause we earned the "RIGHT" to. We are Living, breathing and surviving in this world that our ancestors were brought to as slaves. If we choose to wear a "CROWN" of our own choosing we have the right not to be questioned "WHY".
I say to you WHY NOT, ain't we paid our dues to be left alone to do and wear what we please?
Why does what we do cause "others" to questions why. Why do you need to know?
Why Does it bother you?
Life is a gift everyone should live it in what way makes them happy so long as their happinest does not hurt or inflict pain on another.
